Description W3218 WINCHESTER MODEL 1892 RIFLE CAL 38-40; Today this gun has a 27 inch full octagon barrel with full length mag tube. The barrel caliber marking has been re-stamped “38 WCF” I believe this barrel was shortened from the breech end by an inch. That would explain the new caliber marking. Barrel retains about half the original blue and has a good shiny bore. Mag tube is a gray coloration. Receiver is a brown patina. Crisp action. Forearm wood is slightly undersized. Buttstock has a piece that has been grafted in close to the rifle style buttplate. Over all not a bad looking gun that should make for a good affordable shooter.
